For many this was the final straw. It was the worst massacre of Iraqi Christians since the war began in 2003. Following a four hour siege broken when the Iraqi army stormed the Church, fifty-eight people, most of them worshippers from the Chaldean Catholic community, were killed in the massacre, which, according to The Guardian newspaper, was carried out by al-Qaida-aligned gunmen, some of whom claimed to be avenging an attempt to burn a Koran by a small-town US pastor. Iraq, a country home to 1.3 million Christians before the US led invasion of 2003, now houses only 150,000 – declared a Genocide by the European Union and the US. This film recounts that fateful day and the faith of those Christians living in this tortured land.
