Today the world stopped for a moment.
Jorge Mario Bergoglio, the first Latin American Pope, died this morning at the age of 88, leaving an indelible mark of simplicity, tenderness and courage.
Francis was not only a religious leader. He was a shepherd who walked with his people. He chose the name of the saint of the poor and lived as such. He touched souls with simple gestures and powerful words.
We are left with his legacy, his serene smile, his way of looking with love, without judgment.
Thank you, Francis, for teaching us how to look at others.
We pray for you, as you have always asked us to do. And we say to you, as you said, ”Goodbye, and God bless you.”
